OUR PATRON – STEFAN BRYLA

Bryla was a Polish scientist, welding pioneer and one of few forefathers of modern welding techniques. He was the first author in the world to publish a guide to welding. In 1927 he designed the first welded road bridge in the world, a feat of technology that spanned the river Słudwia in Maurzyce near Łowicz, Poland. He was involved in constructing the impressive New York`s Woolworth Building skyscraper, which at the time was the highest building in the world.

On the 16 November 1943 he and his family were arrested and murdered during Action AB by the Germans in Warsaw.
