RSA-E (Equal)

The legs on an RSA-E steel beam are the same length and form a right angle. RSA-E steel beams are often used for brackets in cleat connections, as well as for lintels (two angles bolted back-to-back) in balconies, platforms, stairs, and concrete supports.

RSA-U (Unequal)

The legs on an RSA-U steel beam are not the same length, forming a right angle. When describing RSA-U beam dimensions, the longer leg is given first.

With the longer leg in a vertical position, RSA-U beams feature greater loading capabilities than RSA-E beams. RSA-U is, similar to RSA-E, optimal for use in cleat connections as brackets, and for lintels in balconies, platforms, stairs, and concrete supports.
